AzuraCast Quick Start Tips for New Broadcasters

A concise, professional handout you can send to your station’s new users.

🔴 Going Live (Real‑Time Broadcast)

  1. Open Station Dashboard → Streamer/DJ Accounts and create your DJ login.
  2. In your broadcast app (e.g., BUTT, Mixxx, PlayIt Live):
    • Enter Host, Port, Mount/Stream Path and your DJ password.
    • Choose the correct Codec/Bitrate (MP3/AAC; 128–192 kbps is common).
  3. Click Connect. AutoDJ will fade and your live show takes over.
Tip: Test with a short private stream first. Keep your mic levels peaking around −6 dB for clean sound.

🎶 Creating Playlists (AutoDJ)

  1. Go to Media → Music Files and upload your tracks.
  2. Open PlaylistsAdd Playlist. Choose a type:
    • General Rotation – all‑day music mix.
    • Scheduled – time‑specific shows.
    • Once per X Songs/Minutes – jingles, ads, IDs.
  3. Assign tracks to the playlist and Save/Enable.
Remember: Media must be in at least one playlist or AutoDJ won’t play it.

🎧 Using WebDJ (From Your Browser)

  1. Open Station Dashboard → WebDJ.
  2. Allow browser access to your microphone (and optionally system audio).
  3. Load or drag‑drop local tracks/jingles, cue your mic, then click Connect.
WebDJ is perfect for quick lives without installing software. For advanced mixing, use Mixxx/PlayIt Live and connect as a DJ.
